Subject - LCSH	Weston (Conn.): Life-Family/Social; Weston (Conn.): 1750-1799
Description	Over the years, hundreds of arrowheads have been found in the Lucius Pond Ordway/Devil's Den Preserve, evidence of the Native American population that inhabited Weston prior to the incorporation of the town. Arrowheads were used as a projectile weapon or tool and made from varieties of stone such as obsidian and flint. When Roger Ludlow first arrived in Fairfield in 1639, the local population of Native Americans, in what is now Weston and Easton, probably numbered no more than a few dozen. At the beginning of the 17th century, the population totaled several thousand but after a devastating plague in 1616, many of those who survived moved to the coast. By the time the settlers moved to Weston most of the Native Americans had left the area.
