Exterior
Walls
are
clapboarded
and
painted
white
. The
tower
is
obviously
of a
considerably
later
date
than the
church
.
It
is
a
curious
square
shaped
tower
in
three
stages
terminating
with a
belfry
with
flat
arched
openings
filled
with
louvres
.
Interior
The
plan
is
a
simple
rectangle
divided
into
four
bays
by
six
square
columns
,
three
on
each
side
,
forming
a
nave
and
two
aisles
. The
eastern
bay
forms
the
chancel
, with a
sacristry
on the
south
side
and the
choir
on the
north
side
.
Both
choir
and
sacristry
are the
width
of the
aisles
and there
is
a
gallery
at the
west
end
occupying
the
space
over
the
first
bay
and a
portion
of the
second
. The
gallery
is
separated
from the
nave
in
both
the
first
and
gallery
floors
by a
paneled
screen
of a
later
date
,
thus
forming
two
rooms
at the
west
end
that
appear
to be
used
for
parish
rooms
. The
ceiling
of the
nave
is
plastered
, and
is
in the
form
of a
barrel
vault
supported
on the
square
wood
columns
of the
nave
. These
columns
of the
nave
are
paneled
and have
delicately
moulded
capitals
, with a
small
beaded
moulding
. The
eastern
bay
which
contains
the
chancel
appears
to be a
later
addition
,
though
doubtless
it
is
still
of the
early
nineteenth
century
. The
ceiling
of the
chancel
is
also a
plastered
barrel
vault
springing
from the
same
level
at the
top
of the
nave
columns
, but of a
flatter
segment
which
places
the
crown
at a
lower
level
than the
nave
vault
.
