Authenticity	Original; restored in 1935 under Lorenzo Hamilton, architect, with WPA funds.
Exterior	This house was used as the First Episcopal place of worship in Meriden (1789), and now used by the Board of Recreation. Two additional leantos at rear corners form a small court. Clapboarded front. Three vertical windows in gable and additional windows toward rear.
Doorway	Nineteenth century front door; four sunk panels, four-light transom above, in pairs. Whole frame nineteenth century.
Interior	Porch - open stringer stair, right to left, with elaborate turned balusters. Small square posts, with nearly flat tops; deeply moulded rail. Scrolls under treads; paneling underneath. Ceiling 85 1/2 ". Oak flooors downstairs. Northeast room - raised panel wall, three panels deep. No summer beam. Small framing. Five-panel doors, HL hinges. Bolection moulding at stone fireplaces. Paneled wainscot. Northwest room - raised panel wall end, three deep. Chair rail. Kitchen- stone fireplace, not very large; oven to left. Two small summers. Upper northwest room - small brick fireplace; moulded mantel. Two small flush panel cupboards. Ceilings 78" upstairs. Pine floors. Upper northeast room - bare 10" summer beam, front to back. Plank construction shows. Featheredge door to attic. Purlin system. New roof over old, to enlarge house toward back, the long rafters supported on posts.
