Authenticity	Remodeled in early 19th century and 1929.
Exterior	Subsequent alterations have been carefully done in good keeping with the original character of the house. Walls - covered with beaded clapboards; painted red with white trim. Chimney - the chimney is broad side to the road, and shallow. The date plate on it, "TB 1639" is modern. Setting - house is set well back from the street, surrounded by many fine large trees.
Doorway	Dutch. Two deeply beaded raised panels in upper portion, cross panels below. Moulded frame. Three flat surfaces. Cornice has a very high coved moulding.
Interior	Porch has a modern closed stringer, with winders and short turned balusters, square posts and elaborate turned knobs. (Copied from house in North Branford.) Featheredge and four panel door under. Dining room to left has large fireplace, originally stone, but narrowed by brick cheeks. Two panel door to left, but no brick oven. Old oak lintel, now partly cut away, can be seen; not very large. Fireplace was surrounded by a bolection moulding, over which was placed in 19th century a sunk panel framed in rope mouldings. Mantel over a dentil course and coved moulding. Summer beam, cased, with edge mouldings is 16 1/4" wide x 4" deep. A coved cornice moulding, using the rope device, borders this and the whole room. Two additional summers put in for strength. Two corner cupboards. That in outer corner has a scallop shell top, with fine but shallow carving, and two carved feathers over the keyblock. Clover leaf shelves. Two panel doors underneath. That in northeast corner is larger, closed; rather simple, sunk panel, 19th century. Drawing room to right also has three summer beams, one original (17 3/8" x 3 1/2"). Ceiling height 89". Two modern raised panel cupboards. A well designed early 19th century mantel with dentils and rope moulding. The fireplace is not original, of brick, 5 1/2" wide [sic]. Kitchen has featheredge taken from upstairs room. Fieldstone fireplace 94" wide and 52" high. Oak lintel. Two brick ovens in rear, left and right; that on right being partly in the angle. Upstairs - both rooms very long, c. 20' x 14 1/2'. The door to the south room is of three wide featheredge boards and measures 37" wide x 71" high. Ceiling height 80 3/4". The north room has now been cut up. Summer beams 16 1/2" x 2 3/4". All cased. Floors modern throughout. Attic (reached by closed stair and four panel door), has nothing of interest. Cellar - modernized. Low; bare rock and cement floor. Huge fieldstone chimney base has one stone cupboard in center south side.
