Fenestration	8/12 sash at front, 6/9 at sides. Fairly narrow muntins. 6/6 sash in dormers. Casements are old and quite large for a stone building; inner edges are beaded.

Exterior	This small gambrel roofed house of stone presents a quaint, old appearance. The roof is very flat and gives the house an appearance of lowness across the ends. The roof is of red tar or composition paper. Roof line of two small dormers follows the pitch of the peak. Eighteenth century moulding over box cornice.
Interior	Ceiling height 85 3/4". Window depth 14 1/2". No summer beams. Mr. Young thinks plaster ceiling is about 60-70 years old. Porch - has stair straight up on left with turned post and rail. Rectangular rather heavy balusters on closed stringer. Southeast room - has a plain mantel with double moulding; brick fireplace; raised hearth. Floor boards 6-12". Southwest room - has a brick fireplace and small brick floor. Kitchen (northwest) has a small brick fireplace and a brick oven to right. Beaded and batten doors. No interesting features upstairs.
History	Joseph Truman, Jr., was building the house when he died in 1745. Apparently the east part was not complete. It was bought by Nathaniel Hempstead, 1774, in a half finished condition. The tradition of its being built in 1751 by Huguenot expatriates came from Mrs Branch. At the present time the house is operated as a tea room.
