Title supplied by Cataloger.; Scope and content: Originally built in the 1740s, this farmhouse where General Putnam died on May 29, 1790 is now a private residence. It is the first house on the left on Spaulding Road, off of Route 169 in Brooklyn.

Title supplied by cataloger.; Scope and content: Putnam Memorial State Park is the site of Connecticut's Valley Forge. In the harsh winter of 1778-79, Major General Israel Putnam and his troops camped here in order to be able to march to the defense of West Point or the towns on Long Island Sound. Although a penciled inscription on the back of this photograph gives the location as being "on the site of the old Guard House used by General Putnam in the winter of 1778," a phone call to the Park Supervisor revealed that this log cabin was actually located north of the fireback remains and was a reproduction of the soldiers' barracks. It burned down in the mid-1970s and only the chimney remains today (2004).his photograph appears in chapter 13 of Mills' book entitled The story of Connecticut (editions published in 1943 and later).

Title supplied by cataloger.; Scope and content: This building was erected in 1896 or 1897 along U.S. Route 6 in Brooklyn not far from the center of town and was used until 1993. It was part of a 385 acre farm which furnished employment for most of the male inmates year round. The Jail's name was changed to the Brooklyn Community Correctional Center in the late 1960s.
